Toyota bZ4X Touring: The Ultimate Electric Family SUV

Toyota has unveiled the 2026 bZ4X Touring, a new addition to its all-electric bZ4X lineup, designed to cater to families and adventure enthusiasts seeking a versatile and spacious electric SUV. Set to launch in Europe in the first half of 2026, the bZ4X Touring combines enhanced performance, increased cargo capacity, and advanced technology to meet the demands of modern electric vehicle (EV) consumers.

The bZ4X Touring offers two powertrain options to suit different driving preferences. The front-wheel-drive model delivers 224 DIN hp (165 kW), while the all-wheel-drive variant boasts 380 DIN hp (280 kW), making it the most powerful Toyota electric vehicle to date. Both versions are equipped with a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing an estimated WLTP range of up to 560 kilometers, ensuring long-distance travel capabilities. Additionally, the bZ4X Touring supports DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes, and AC charging at 11 kW or 22 kW, depending on the variant.

Designed with families and outdoor enthusiasts in mind, the bZ4X Touring features a lengthened body and increased height, resulting in 33% more boot space compared to the standard bZ4X. With a total boot capacity of 600 liters, it offers ample room for luggage, sports equipment, or camping gear. The rear seats can be folded in a 40:60 split configuration, expanding cargo space to 1,800 liters when needed. The vehicle also includes a roof-mounted luggage rack with a 70 kg capacity, ideal for carrying additional gear during adventures.

The interior of the bZ4X Touring is equipped with a 14-inch multimedia display, providing intuitive controls and connectivity options. The navigation system includes a dedicated function that automatically selects routes with recommended charging stations based on the vehicle's current battery charge level and remaining range. This feature ensures convenience during long trips by optimizing charging stops. The vehicle also incorporates Toyota's latest eAxle technology, utilizing silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors for improved efficiency and performance. Additionally, the bZ4X Touring is equipped with a battery pre-conditioning system that can be activated manually or automatically when approaching a fast-charging station, ensuring the battery is at optimal temperature for charging, particularly beneficial in colder climates.

While Toyota has not yet announced the official pricing for the bZ4X Touring, it is expected to be positioned above the current bZ4X models. In Europe, the standard bZ4X starts at €42,900, and the Touring variant is anticipated to be priced higher due to its enhanced features and capabilities. The bZ4X Touring is scheduled for introduction in Europe in the spring of 2026, with availability in other markets to be confirmed.

The 2026 Toyota bZ4X Touring represents a significant step forward in Toyota's electric vehicle offerings, combining performance, practicality, and advanced technology to meet the needs of modern families and adventure seekers. With its spacious interior, powerful performance, and innovative features, the bZ4X Touring is poised to become a compelling choice in the electric SUV market.
